GPS and Mapping software ?

Ok, now that I've quit drooling over my new install of Mepis(see post in advocacy)I need some functionality - Has anyone had success with any particular software related to GPS's and mapping ? Specifically, we do a lot of Geocaching and war driving....would like to get a consensus as to what works for you all !

Thanks,
And....Mepis ROCKS !

not in linux :-(((

there is excellent australian shareware which runs in windows, and sometimes i can get it to run in wine, sometimes not.
it is called oziexplorer
but i think i need a newer wine - it was working better before i moved to mepis.

Try these:

For desktop/laptop use, try GpsDrive. It works very well, but hasn't had any recent releases (since 8/03).

Another small Linux GPS app I have seen is called "pygps", it is for handhelds.
