HP 1220c printed blured lines

I have a HP 1220c which i use for printing out CAD drawings. what ever setting i use my drawings print out with slightly offset lines. ive tried cleaning the heads etc and the print looks ok there but still prints out funny in cad. has anyone else had this problem and how did they get round it?
