Seems to me the answer is right in front of you
K3b is looking for the package mkisofs so it can make an iso filesystem to lay out the files on the finished dvd. I thought this was installed by default, but I may be wrong, or it, or another package may have some corruption that is stopping the process in some way
Do a search in synaptic to see if mkisofs is installed and if it's not, mark it for installation, or mark for re-installation if it is.
You may have to post back with a little more info like at exactly what point are you getting the failure if the synaptic thing doesn't work.
While you're in synaptic, search for all packages with dvd in the name and install the packages that may look useful.

Thanks for the reply Mike
Thanks for the reply Mike but l have done all that! I loaded my PCLinux and got the job done.

If I'm not mistaken, I've
If I'm not mistaken, I've run into this before. It seems that the path to the DVD device is inappropriately appended with a '/' IIRC, when I've removed the extra '/' from the path to the CD/DVD files everything buzzes right-along without problems.
I'm not sure where this is creeping-in, but I assumed this to be a K3b issue.
