Can't print after upgrade

Hello,
I upgraded from 6.0 to 6.5. By this I mean that I preserved /home.
Now my Canon 4550 printer does not work. It is configured as a cups
printer, using bjc800 emulation (recommended). When I attempt a test
page it prints (maximum) of 1 cm (looks like a boxed MEPIS Printer
Test Page). Then stops and flashes the power light (usually means an
error). "lpstat" shows it is "now printing".
I don't recall having to does anything special for 3.4.3 or 6.0
(other than the fact I never got "lp" really working).

cheers

Go inside the printer

Go inside the printer manager and remove the printer, then re-add it. when it sees the printer, just use that particular item and install the recommended driver.

I guess the printer things are outside of /home *shrug*

can't add

Hello,
I logged in as root and removed the printer.
Then tried to add a new printer: I clicked on
add local printer (serial/parallel/usb), then
the wizard asked to select the port (or enter
a URI (sic) below) so I select "parallel" and
clicked NEXT. Error: no URI entered.
I must be missing something, it did say *OR*.
cheers

fixed

Hello,
It seems that you must delete the printer, then
reboot, then add the printer back in. The reboot
part was what I did not know about. After rebooting
the "URI" (or is that URl? certaining not URL!) is
present, and now I have a printer again.
