Linux Friendly Printers
Posts: 15
I'm building a new system based on Mepis. Before I go find a new printer/scanner combo, I was just wondering what you out there in the community think is the most linux-friendly print manufacturer.
Even if you have some ideas as for a great model in particular, please let me know. Thank you in advance!

HP provides Linux tools like the HPLIP Printer Toolbox (already installed in SimplyMEPIS), so that you can change printer settings, monitor ink levels, etc.
Warren upgraded HPLIP and the printer drivers during the 6.0 to 6.5 Development cycle. So, they should be relatively current. It would still be a good idea to boot into a live cd and make sure a printer is listed if you try to add it under KDE Control Center>Peripherals>Printers (press the admiin button to add one).
