Radeon 9250-

I saw the other post for help for this video card. Did nothing come of it? I, too, have this card and it has been causing all manner of h--- for me in my efforts to have a Linux system going. The only distro that worked out of the box for me was opensuse but I uninstalled because I read some good reviews on Mepis and I really find suse difficult to negotiate. I really like Mepis but the whole blacking/blanking screen is killing me. Nothing like being in the middle of something when the screen goes black--computer still running--and you can't get back to it! Terribly frustrating.

Right now I'm working under the vesa driver (from inside the control panel) but it's annoying because everytime I move a window it drags and pulls (not sure how to explain it). So far the screen is going ok, not sure if it will last. But I would love to be able to just move things normally (and with speed) as the regular radeon driver does before the screen blacks out on me.

Does anyone have any solutions 2 months later after the other poster begged for help? I sure would like to know!
