Compiling and Installing your own kernel in Mepis wiki

Last night I made my first attempt to compile and install the 2.6.21-3 kernel, and during the "Installing missing modules" step it gave two errors when running the following command:

m-a a-i fuse-source

The first error said something to the effect of "The package cannot be found in your current Sources, please use another repository"
And the second error said something to the effect of "Your kernel headers are incorrect, did you install them correct? Can't install complete module-assistant stuff"

I followed the wiki to the letter up to this point with not a single error. All of the .deb packages were installed after the kernel compiled so the headers should be there. The grub was altered correctly and the server properly rebooted into the new kernel. I will note two things, should they matter, but I did go through and edit the menuconfig according to the link found on the wiki for uberizing your kernel "at your own risk", and the second thing is that the nvidia driver was not found or did not work properly as it booted into the console and would error out when trying to startx.

Any assist would be awesomeness.

Forgot something....

The new kernel version I have has built in NTFS3G support already build in, so that may be why I received the error about kernel headers. No worries on that one, but the main thing is about modules like ndiswrapper. How is this script on the Wiki supposed to work if your server has no access to the internet? Is it assuming you can be/are wired in to the internet as well? If so, it might need to be updated with some fine print about needing an internet connection or needing to have the ndiswrapper source already downloaded so that you can compile it yourself after the fact. Any clue as to if this is the case?
