I am assembling a computer for my daughter\s daughters. It will have a new motherboard but I have a working ATI 7100 128 Mb displaycard.

How well will Mepis 6.5 work with it?

What do you think Shocked

Should work

Look here under ATi : Radeon X.org Driver : Supported
http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php/ATI_supported_cards

Looks like the Linux native Radeon driver supports your card

"These Drivers have no official Linux Binaries or Obsolete Binaries" Puzzled

Does that mean that I must download it "apt-get ati..." or is it ready in the installation? In the computer I'm running now I have Nvidias card and everything works perfectly well from the beginning, already on the livecd stage which is exceptional and great! Smiling

My SimplyMepis 6.5 is from the DVD of Linux Format July 2007.

To tell the truth I have not

To tell the truth I have not used the Radeon driver

It is included with Mepis (and other distros)

You may need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf as root

driver "radeon"

and maybe some other changes as well

you could also try with

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

as root
