USB Video Class Linux device driver

I have just purchased a Creative Optia AF webcam. It uses a USB Video Class device driver which in the windows environment appears only in SP2. So I guess it is pretty new stuff.
When can we expect to see this driver as standard in this and other Linux Distros?

Users of Subversion might be comfortable with what they are offering, but I for one would prefer an easier approach
