Recently I have attempted to install some new packages. I cd to the directory and ./configure, then i have to manually add the X lib and includes, but then I am asked for a path to libXext.
I have been unable to locate the path for this and to be honest, i do not know how to use it with the ./configure options....
any ideas?

probably you looked for a hard way to do it
apt-get install
