gparted resize works but partition is not changed

Mepis 6.5
I have run gparted 0.2.5-2mepis1 on a partition which is not mounted to reduce in size, and it claims success.
But running df shows the partition has not really changed.
This is a SATA drive. Can someone give me advise on this, or suggest another program? Thanks.

Did you actually clicked

Did you actually clicked "apply" after you modified the size of the partitions?

You can also try QTParted, that's installed on 6.x there's also a terminal utility called "cfdisk"

Thanks for your reply. I did

Thanks for your reply.
I did click "reply" and the program went thru the motions and indicated that operation was completed.

qtparted wouldnt let me resize.

Resolved by downloading gparted-iso, creating disk with k3b, then restarting from that disk.

Running either gparted or qtparted from within an installed distro is potentially disastrous. For (re)partioning, resizing, whatever, always use a bootable CD with partioning capabilities and make sure that existing harddisk partitions are NOT mounted. I strongly recommend the Gparted-iso.

I have used Gparted-iso v. 0.3.3-0 for a long time and have only a few days ago changed to PMagic 1.8 (which incorporates Gparted as well).
