mobile phone as a modem?
I have heard that I can use my mobile phone (a sony ericsson using the 3 Network) as a modem for my laptop to go online.
If that is so then can anyone tell me if it is possible to hook it up to MEPIS? If it can ... can you tell me how?
poney up??

Hi Enigmaone ... you are certainly living up to your name!
I have not subscribed to the net via my network provder ... yet.
I wanted to know whether the laptop using MEPIS will talk to the phone ... can you tell me that ... and if it is possible can you tell me how I configure MEPIS to do it?
... no ... I still can't work out what a poney up is!
... wait a minute ... poney up = subcribe!! ... yes?

The ability to comfortably use a computer is directly proportional to desire to listen, learn, and experiment, and is inversely proportional to the fear, anger, and stubbornness that you show.

Look I know I'm a bit wet behind the ears over this side of pond, and I may be a sprog when it comes to the soft stuff ... but are you going to help me with my connection ... said the actor to the bishop ...?

I apologize. I can't tell

I apologize.
I can't tell you anything about your mobile phone.
I own a Blackberry and haven't even bothered with trying what you're proposing with that, simply because it would be inordinately expensive on our cellular plan (10 or 11 times the cost of our broadband access).
According to my understanding, this is one of those less-charted territory issues in the across the board landscape with Linux.
The first place I would explore such an issue would be at the Sony website.

If you don't have a wireless Internet services subscription through your wireless provider (usually a minimum of a $30.00 kiss on your bill), any response you get is going to be highly theoretical.
