Hello,
So far to see the maximum speeds i could get with torrents I have done the following:
Upgraded Ktorrent to 2.2.1
Uninstalled GuardDog
Opened ports 513XY and 513XZ in the port forward part of router (linsys WRT54-GL running DD-WRT)(
Configured Ktorrent to use 513XZ as "Port" and 513XY as "UDP tracker Port"
Configured Ktorrent to use 513XZ as DHT port
Used the following commands to open the ports in Mepis (copied from Ubuntu forum):
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 513XY -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 513XY -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 513XZ -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 513XZ -j ACCEPT
Am I missing anything? I have a torrent with 200 seeds, I connect to 15 and get a measly 10-25kb/s.
Hi Carlops, Thanks for

Hi Carlops,
Thanks for taking the time. I have checked the preferences. I set my max upload at 90% of my true max (same for upload) as recommended. I did see that my upload gets maxed right away...its my download that kind of blows.
Never thought I'd miss utorrent. Today i tried to resume my torrent and "lost" about 100 mB that I had downloaded. This never happened in utorrent. It would always resume at the same spot.
I also realize that i should have made my /home folder my biggest partition. All the torrent engines are happy to write to that partition, but they give me a hard time when I try to send my downloads to my large partition in /media/sd4...Blah blah, write access, blah blah couldn't create. I already set my read write permissions on the sd4 to all, I don't know what else I can do. I don't my people writing to this partition...even if they did hack into it. What's the worst they can do, fill it up?

Assuming you have a broadband connection and get good results with downloads via http or ftp, I do not think this is an IP issue.
Sorry for asking, but have you looked at the Ktorrent preferences? Especially the download limits?
