BELKIN F5D7050B Wireless Usb Adapter Help Needed
Posts: 11
I can not get this adapter to connect to internet with Mepis 6.5.
It has rt73.inf driver installed (checked with ndiswrapper -l )
LED blinks once in a while.
Setup as wlan0.
Followed Wiki, here's what I get:
1)
typed: ifup wlan0
got: interface wlan0 already configured
2)
typed: dhclient wlan0
got: DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255
No DHCPOFFERS received. No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.
I have my router setup and working ok with windows for:
WPA+PSK with key: someword1 someword2
I have a space between those two keywords and
my ssid also contains a space between two words. Could that be a problem ?
input method:TKIP
When I enter passphrase for WPA in Mepis network assistant-wireless tab,
and press aply, small window comes up, then I press OK to continue/get rid of the window
and the passphrase disappears before I go back to general tab to re/start network.
Should the passphrase disappear like that ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Alex

A note to myself and others:
Besides punctuation, Do Not use white space characters either in ssid (or essid) and in passkey (or passphrase) in your WPA authentication. I would never use those characters but my buddy (the smartass) did the router setup and used spaces.
i.e. "mynetwork1" is ok but "my network 1" will cause headaches.
Used rt73.inf and all the other install files from windows install (carefull about lower case).
Setup your Belkin Wireless Utility authentication to WPA+PSK with TKIP.
Works right out of the box, awesome !
Solved !!!
Have a great MEPIS 6.5 ROCKS browsing day !
