Problem with EVMS
Posts: 32
Hello,
It was a while since last post, anyway:
I reinstalled mepis 6.5, by default it has 2.6.15-27-desktop, which does not work well for me, and needs to be changed into new kernel,
My choice is 2.6.18, I downloaded 2.6.18, configuered it, compiled, and it almost works,
The most annoying problem is EVMS (in mepis its in version 2.5.4, (the newest ver is 2.5.5))
when system is starting i get these
[ 48.914895] device-mapper: table: 253:3: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed
[ 48.914898] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table
I have 2 SATA-2 HD's, sda and adb, both are detected,
partitions on sda are mounted, but not on sdb,
I recompiled 2.6.18 with build-it support for EVMS, but still the problem remains
anybody has it solved ???
cheers
ps
sorry for my written english
i was thinking about it, but

I disabled EVMS on my mepis because it caused a pause during boot up. Now it boots a lot faster and there has been no problems since.
you can read my post here:http://www.mepis.org/node/13836

sorry, I forgot to say I moved them to another folder as well in case It didn't work and i needed to re-instate the EVMS files.
Glad its helped.
makes me wonder if this EVMS is really necessary.

Can you download the latest beta of Mepis 7? If possible, try that and see if it works for your situation.
