Mepis network tools - problem with empty field

Hi all, yesterday I used "Mepis network tools" in manual mode for set the IP of my ethernet card.
I also have a wireless card and in its setting I didn't comile the field "gaetway" because I'm not using it.
After aplly the settings the interface eth0 was not configured (and also eth1).
The command ifup and ifdown was not working but they returned an error message avout an empty value in the file /etc/network/interface.
I gave a look and I sow that in eth1 was present "gaetway" without any value.
Is correct that there are no value (I didn't set it) but also the word "gateway" should not be present atherwise ifup and ifdown are not able to set it correctly.

I used
nano /etc/network/interface
for fix the problem.

I suggest to program "Mepis network tools" for make controls on the empty field.

PS: mepis 6.5 with all the update.
