Impossible, as Mepis 7 uses

Impossible, as Mepis 7 uses debian and not Ubuntu core(Mepis 6.5)

Can I safe my /home folder

Can I safe my /home folder then, settings and applications?

Anything? Or is there only a new clean installation for us?

You should be able to

You should be able to preserve your /home.
Best to back it up first, just in case.

Home folder mostly works

I installed 7.0 beta 2 over 6.5 and kept my home folder. Almost all of my settings were still there (Firefox extensions and bookmarks, KMail, OpenOffice defaults, etc.) but my RSS feeds in Akregator were lost. And I had to set up my wifi connection again. KDE desktop settings were still there, though downloaded themes had to be downloaded again. And, of course, some software had to be reinstalled.
