mepis 6.5
After applying updates that were listed in synaptic, postscript documents are now blank when using konqueror'
These same files were ok with the "vanilla" install of 6.5
Other files (pdf, ods, jpg, png) are ok.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.
All the programs are there, with the same update level as the vanilla install in another partition, except that gs-gpl is NOT in the vanilla, and is available but not installed on my installation.
I checked this twice. Then I installed gs-gpl. But I get same problem.
I checked the vanilla install to be sure I really could read postscript files with ghostscript.
Ghostscript on my installation gives this message:

Hi, i had the same problem. So, in settings > Configure KGhostview > General i unchecked the option "enable antialiasing for fonts & images" and the document was visible. (Don't ask me why)
good luck, c.

Thanks for the tip about unchecking the option - that did it!
The "vanilla" install has that setting checked and there is no problem. I won't ask you why.
It's discouraging when we compare versions and the settings are the same and yet there is a problem. Perhaps there is still another setting somewhere but I'm not tinkering with what works.

This is only a farfetched suggestion (don't know if I'm on the right track). Check to see if synaptic removed any of the following:
psutils
gs-common
gs-esp
gsfonts
gs-gpl
Just a thought.
