Ghosting a new [ larger ] harddrive problem

Hello,

Using partimage I made images of of my dual boot harddrive and successfully have both xp and Mepis 6.0 running on the new much larger drive.
I made the swap file larger, and Mepis recognizes that.
However, in both XP and Mepis, they see themselves as the original image size.

How can I change the image size settings in both XP and Mepis to match the new larger partition sizes?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks,

Carl

resize your drives

I'm not sure what the problem is, but the best way to resize your drives is to use the Mepis cd.

I use "Ghost for Unix" to copy drives http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/ and never had a problem.

solved !

Thanks to Tim on Mepislovers I found the solution.

To resize a Linux partition:

-run mepis live in root
-run resize2fs /dev/hdc4 or what ever your partition is.

in my case, it asked to run e2fsck -f /dev/hdc4 first which I did, than resize2fs /dev/hdc4

To resize ntfs [XP in my case ]
- run Mepis live in root.
- run ntfsresize /dev/hdc1 or what ever you ntfs partition is.

Many Thanks to Tim,

Carl

One Suggested Addition

If possible, before you make any changes to those partitions, BACK UP THE ORIGINAL DATA Smiling

I have used resize2fs, and sometimes things can get messed up really fast...

Jon

The ability to comfortably use a computer is directly proportional to desire to listen, learn, and experiment, and is inversely proportional to the fear, anger, and stubbornness that you show.

For Sure

I always back up my data before I do any Surgery on my computer, and on a regular basis too. I don't trust hard drives or computers.

Thanks Jon,
