Volume not working, sound quality poor on Laptop
First, kudos to the team for a great beta. For the first time, I have sound on my laptop. The first distro to do that. But, it isn't very good, quality wise. Neither, the volume slider or the mixer in kmix is working, nor is the volume wheel on the front of the laptop. In Amarok, Realplayer, the volume doesn't work.
My hardware is as follows:
Intel Chipset, Intel 8201G Dual Pentium Core
Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio
Mouse: Synaptics PS/2 Touchpad
Any help greatly appreciated. I'm dying to ditch Vista and get MEPIS on my new laptop.

Volume not working
On one of my computers I have to right click on "Kmix" and choose "Select Master Channel" and then I choose "Front" to get the slider to work correctly.
My Audio chip is the same as yours, so that should work for you too.

Thanks JJ for the quick
Thanks JJ for the quick reply. It didn't help. In fact, I can quit kmix and I still have the same level of volume. With so many Toshiba Satellites on the market, I can't understand why this audio driver isn't in a Linux module of some sort. I'll keep trying for a solution.
