antiX-M7-beta2 is available for testing.

This version has a few more applications installed, has been dist-upgraded to include all the recent changes in Debian Etch and Mepis7-beta2. A few extra wallpapers have been added and some files removed. antiX-M7-beta2 is 299MB.

For those with antiX-M7-beta1.iso, you can use xdelta to add the patch_beta1-beta2.delta http://tomlinux.ca/testing/patch_beta1-beta2.delta
It is 82MB.

antiX-M7-beta2 is a second test release of antiX now using the Debian repositories. It is smaller than antiX-Spartacus, but, due to the fact it is based on the Debian repositories, it is more dynamic.

Antix-m7-beta2 kernel problem

Also I'm having the same problem with the Antix-m7-beta2 kernel that I'm having with the Mepis 7.0 beta kernel, after it boots it is unable to find the cd drive(mepis file's).

All the new beta's and pre-beta 32bit have failed to find my "IDE cd drive" on my main desktop it is an Intel duel-core using "945G" chip on the mainboard and "no" this is not "JMicron".

Note: I have no problem using the Debian kernels Etch or Lenny or Mepis 6.0 or 6.5.

If you have a workaround that I may try, please let me know.

Jimmy Johnson, I'm afraid I

Jimmy Johnson,
I'm afraid I know of no workaround. antiX uses the exact same kernel as Mepis7. Have you sent a bug report to Warren?

Yep, and I will be sending another one, beta 3 is giving me the same problem. Can you or somebody else try to get some feedback from Warren, cause I'm getting no response, if he needs more info from me just let me know. Please.

He will do his best to get back to you

We know he is swamped with bug reports right now, and is working through them as time permits.

Hang in there...

UPDATE!!
This problem has been solved by not using a CyberHome DVDRW drive, I have now tested it with both a Liteon and LG DVDRW drives and both work on this box, I replaced the CyberHome drive and beta3 is now installed on my main desktop. Smiling

I still find it strange that the CyberHome drive had problems with Warrens kernel, but we have to move on.

Glad you got it fixed Jimmy. Send the info off to Warren. He may not reply, but he will take your info into account I'm sure.
