Just got a laptop for my wife and its got windows vista installed as standard. Ive shrunk the partition and installed Ubuntu 7.04 on it as it claimed it worked with vista just to test it.
Ive got Mepis 6.5 on my main PC & would like to put mepis on it. I wondered if the latest Mepis 6.5.02 will detect vista and boot it from the grub menu like Ubuntu does?.

I don't use Vista, but if you make a backup copy of Ubuntu's /boot/grub/menu.lst(it's nothing more than small text file), that boot info can be copied to the Mepis /boot/grub/menu.lst and I will help if you need it.

Yes.....

Yes, it does. Install grub to the MBR of your bootdisk during installation. The Mepis 6.5.02 grub-installer will pick up your Vista nicely and put it into the Mepis bootmenu.

This worked for me

I bought a laptop with Vista pre-installed.

This is what I did.
