KDesktop Crash on Boot Up-- Beta 4
Posts: 2
When I first boot Beta 4, I get the KDE Crash Handler for KDesktop. The short description of it is the kdesktop crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGBART). Alt+F2 command line does not work. When I end the current session and then log back in, there is no crash and Alt-F2 works. Also, in a separate incident, Mepis Beta 4 hung and did not launch KDE after logging in. I am using Beta 4 in Live CD format only (no hard drive install) on a generic PC that features Asus P4C800E Deluxe motherboard with 512 MB RAM. It normally runs Mepis 6.5 just fine from the hard drive, and I am a very satisfied user.
KDE Desktop Crash on Boot Up-- Beta 5

Here's a note to say that I am still experiencing the same problem with Beta 5 as I did with Beta 4 regarding KDE Desktop exhibiting a crash notice on bootup. Here is a description as taken from my post about Beta 4.
When I first boot Beta 4 (now on Beta 5 too), I get the KDE Crash Handler for KDesktop. The short description of it is the kdesktop crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGBART). Alt+F2 command line does not work. When I end the current session and then log back in, there is no crash and Alt-F2 works. I hope this gets solved soon.
Same happened to me.....

Hi,
The same thing happened to me when I first booted the 7.0 beta4 livecd and selected the "Run from CD...." option (=using aufs). After logging in Kdesktop crashed (as described in the first post). This was on my AMD64 + Asus K8N mobo with 1 GB memory.
Mepis 7.0 beta4 32bit Livecd with the aufs option ran fine on the same machine.
Mepis 7.0 beta4 Livecd 64bit with the aufs option ran fine on my HP laptop.
Today I rebooted the 64bit beta4 livecd with aufs option on my AMD system and the problem did not occur. Since then I rebooted it twice and I could not reproduce the error....
I reported the initial problem to Warren.
