Firefox does not remember my tabs

I have a problem with Firefox 2.0.0.3 (Mepis 6.5.02 32-bit).

From the preferences, I have set the "When Firefox starts" option to "Show My Windows and Tabs From Last Time". Still, every time I start the browser, it does not remember any of my tabs. I tried to search a solution with Google, but came up only with other reports about this same problem. Quick search didn't reveal any solution. Does anyone else have this kind of problems and how to fix this? I have checked that there are no other instances of the Firefox running at the background, when I try to restart the browser.

This is a clean Mepis install, which is less than a week old, so there should be no old configurations lurking around.

I use the Tab Mix Plus

I use the Tab Mix Plus extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1122.

In the Tab Mix Plus Options Window - Session tab; uncheck the "Use Firefox's built-in session restore feature", this lets the extension handle the session restore functions rather than firefox.

Thanks for the tip!

Unfortunately, this extension didn't work as expected either.

There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with the Firefox at my system. The Tab Mix Plus obviously tried to save and restore sessions, but all it could produce at the start-up, was an empty pop-up window. Same thing with the Tab extension preferences dialog. It was able to come up only every other time successfully. Every other attempt to change preferences ended up with an empty dialog (identical to that, which came up at the start-up).

Strange. All other add-ons, I have installed, seem to work correctly.
