I have installed DWL-G510;s in two computers. an AMD64 and an Intel, running Mepis-6.5 I have trolled the net reading every thing I could get my hands on but they sill don't work.

etc/Wireless has the RT61 file, and just to be sure I went through installing ndiswrappers and used the window drivers from the disc.
I have Mepis-6.5 installed on my Acer Extensa 5210 and the wireless works fine. I have even read the source from seamonky hopeing I would spot something of how things worked.

Help needed badly Thanks

Are you using MEPIS 7 Beta 4?

Version makes a big difference here, earlier betas were not as good for wireless.

Well it's all fixed, Here is what I did.

ifconfig sa0 up

Then went to mepis network/wireless entered

'default' for essid.

apply

restart network

and hey presto it worked.

For what ever reason it needed sa0 up before Mepis network would see the wireless and keep the settings.
