NTFS read write Driver

I have a request for putting the NTFS-3g read write driver into Mepis 7

see http://www.ntfs-3g.org/

I do use large USB drives to go back and forth between XP/NT and my Linux systems

Isn't the driver installed,

Isn't the driver installed, it's there since MEPIS 6.5...

The driver is installed

But I can't write to a NTSF USB hard drive -- This is in Mepis 6.5 -- Hence the request -- I think the request was imperfectly worded!

Just tried using your solution. {http://www.mepis.org/node/13822} Didn't work! KDiskFree did not even show /dev/sda1 as being hooked in! Unplugged and plugged USB drive in - Now shows up - but same problem as before!

I am unable to write on a NTSF disk connected to a USB port. It is on /dev/sda1 which default mounts to /media/sda1

Is there anyway to correct the problem?

This was freshly formatted in XP

Administrative Note:
You have a thread dealing with this issue, and that's the proper way to approach the problem. Let's be patient and see what solutions come your way, instead of cross-posting about this.

What the error when you try

What the error when you try to write? Maybe you need to be root.

Error

It comes back that it has only read access privileges to the drive -- standard stuff for normal Linux access to NTSF drives -- which I thought ntfs-3g addressed. This could be an issue specifically with drives attached through the usb port -- I don't know.

HAL bug (?)

You may have stumbled across some HAL bug - (hopefully) to be sidestepped for the time being as follows:
