BenQ Laptop Sound Drivers
Posts: 3
Hi,
I'm not very good with computers or laptops or anything and recently I formatted my laptop. It's a BenQ Joybook 7000, and i no longer have the manuals for it or anything. The format went fine but the only thing is my sound no longer works. I was told i needed to find out what sound card i had, but i didn't know how to. Also the QMedia program no longer works.. but that isn't as important to me. So any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Danielle

I found my 'kmixer' file but it doesn't open as I don't think I have the right program to run .sys files or something. Do I need to download something for that?

What version of Mepis are you running?
Have you looked at the Mepis wiki?

Normally there is a Kmix icon in your panel toolbar, a picture of a speaker. You open it to adjust sound (switches, etc.) If sound is not working at all, it probably won't open, and may have a line thru the icon.

There is also a very good forum at http://www.mepislovers.org

Sorry, I'm really new to this so I don't mean to be a pain lol, I'm not sure what you mean but 'what version of mepis.'
Also by panel toolbar do you mean the part down the bottom near the clock where the speaker usually is? because it isn't there for me.
Also with that site you gave I tried 'detecting sound card' but I wasnt sure was Konsole was...
thank you for this

See if this thread helps -- it's old, and the problem with headphone switches may have been fixed by now, but it's worth trying
