Please hlpe me configure my wifi with a Netgear WH311T card using DHCP and WPA

Hi,
I am new to Mepis (just downloaded the latest version today) and to wireless networking. At home, I have a wifi network which works with DHCP and which is secured by WPA. I tried installing my Netgear PCI WH311T card with Mepis, and it seems to see it, but I cannot get it to connect to the network. Here is what I get when I try to see what is going on:

I tried all sorts of things with the Mepis network manager. I chose to configure manually, I entered wifi0 as the interface, I put mynetwork as the network essid, I entered the correct WPA key where needed, but I could not connect.
Also - it seems that the logical name of my card is wifi0 but then why is ath0 showing as the only device supporting scanning? IS my card wifi0 or ath0 and which should I enter as a network interface on the Mepis network manager?
Could you please tell me exactly, field by field, (for the real dummy that I am) what I must enter in the network manager and how can I test whether the card, the DHCP and the WPA are all correct?
(I should mention here that I was using a Mepis CD in the live-CD mode and that no other network cards, such as an eth0, were installed)
Many thanks for your patience and help,

Hey anticapitalista,
Is ndiswrapper not designed, well, to "wrap" the windoze driver to make it run under Linux? IN my case, Mepis sees the card just fine (as far as I can tell), but its the network config which seems to be the issue.
Besides, my card is off ebay with no drivers with it
Anyway - surely I can make this card work without resorting to ndiswrapper?!

Because you have an Atheros

Because you have an Atheros chipset card using the madwifi driver, your wifi interface is ath0. If you enter the essid and wpa passphrase for that interface you might have better luck. The output of iwconfig shows that the essid isn't set at all and it needs to be for wpa to work.
Good Luck!

Have a look at the wiki here:

And post at Mepislovers too. There are usually a lot more people hanging around there.
Good luck, past my bedtime
