Hi everybody !
My english is very bad, but I'd like to know if the stable version will give the choice of the video card at the installation. With the beta 4 I had to choice vesa mode because my monitor turned off and after with mepis X-Windws assistant I installed the Nvidia driver. It's not good because now I don't have a graphical boot but a lot of text with errors. I can use my Mepis but i think it's not perfect
Thanks for trying understand me

Okay, that's great. many thanks.
I have the 3D with the Nvidia driver I have installed with Mepis X-Windows assistant but, as i said, I had to install on vesa mode, so now I dont't have graphical loggin.
If the stable version don't offer the choice of the Nvidia card at the boot, I'll do as your tutorial means.
Thanks for your answer

Im not up on the new drivers from xorg so maybe you should google xorg and the model # of your card to see what kind of luck others are having with it. Usually drivers from Nvidia arent that hard to install (if you know how) and have your system up to the task. I dont have that card so im not sure what will work best with it, so google should help.

Alright, Google is my friend !
I've seen on Google's answers I have to install with free driver as vesa and after I have to install the Nvidia package. That's what I did. So, as I said, it's all OK now with 3D but at the boot of Mepis I don't see the tangerine line and the Mepis logo. Only the text. Same at the shutdown. It's not very important but, I think, it reveals errors with xorg. Am I true ??

It may be a problem with splasy cant say for sure. I usually remove or disable it so i can see whats going on anyway, so no loss for me. If you are getting messages about it on boot just edit the word splash out of the grub boot line & i think it wont pop up anymore.

Try dmesg | tail in konsole and see if it's the same output. If so just copy and paste into this forum reply.

No, unfortunately the output

No, unfortunately the output is different. I'll try to copy the messages of the boot with a pen on a paper and post them at next boot...

What Nvidia card are you using? Let me know and i will see what we can do. Or you can go to Nvidia site and check to see what driver works with your card.
In the mean time you can reinstall the xwindow system with Mepis install cd.
