Kworldclock definitely is in Synaptic. First time you start synaptic you need to hit the reload button to get the full package list.

Hello Hubert, i think you may be having a problem with your sources list. The 2.6.10 kernel versions of Mepis should probably be using Sarge stable these days. Just edit your sources list through synaptic by editing a sarge source from unstable to stable and be sure to check the box on left
to enable it then hit reload button then i think you will find it.

With Mepis 3.3 you should probably be using the debian sarge (old-stable) instead of etch (stable) repositories. The kdetoys package is available in the debian sarge repo.
You should not change the apt.mepis.org repository to sarge. Leave that one alone. Just change the debian repos in /etc/apt/sources.list replacing any mention of stable or etch with sarge.
Good Luck!

Try typing this or appending what you have within synaptic to this.
deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
It should be easy to edit what you have to the above line, that is of course IF your location has no effect on the repositories, don't know & can't say cause i have never been to Europe.
But good luck!
jim PS: It works for me in the USA but YMMV.

13.10.2007 Kworldklock
Hi all.
I tried to install.
Kworldklock
But all what I could see was, that icon in Programs.
If I hit it, all was gone.
I did run 'apt-get -f install' and 'apt-get update' but I could do nothing more
because one packed-- Kworldclock was not ok, and so I lost all what I had loaded down in about 7 hours each time.
Now I really don't know, what I have to do. This “Toy” would be very utile for mi.
The Packages: kdelibs 4c2a,libqt3-mt and libstdc ++ I saw in the download too.
But I suppose all was only in the memory and the swabfile, and I could not save it, to luck for further information. And it was than 2:30 AM.
What can I do now to get this program?
I would be very glad for any further help and thank you in advance .

Kworldclock download and install
Posts: 2280
Well we have a little problem with versions i have found, the version you need for 2.6.10 kernel is 4:3.3.2-3 and it is no longer available in the Debian repos. The only version i found in Debian is 4:3.5.5-3 at this time. So you need to find the right .deb version to work with your kernel but first you need to back out of what you have done because trying to install the later version wants to remove a lot of packages to upgrade the system, witch will no doubt lead to major problems, with who knows what. And will probably lead to a system you no longer recognize, in short not good!
At this point i suggest you search the web for the correct package or if you have the extra cdroms that were released for the 2.6.10 kernel you can install from them or upgrade to the current stable MEPIS. I don't know your needs or desires so can't advise further than that at this time.

Or do you have a better sugestion?
Well, my Internet conection is slow, ISDN SAT 0 to 14 KB/s Download, here in Chile in the outback. And I would like to order a few good books to learn more about Linux at the same time too. Thank you very mutch in advance for your reply, and best greatings. Hubert.

Tough questions Hubert, with your web speed you need a dvd with all the goodies you can get. The difficulties are piling up in my mind with a new 7.0 release around the corner, when it will be i dont know. As you probably know Mepis will be changing from the Ubuntu package pool back to the Debian pool with 7.0 release. If it were me i would want to go with the Debian pools which isn't released yet. But in your situation i can't say what i would do cause i don't know if there will be a 7.0 dvd with all the extras, as there are available for the 6.5 current release.
In short that is a call you will have to make as there is going to be a learning curve in both instances due to all the changes made since your release. In the mean time i will look around for your package and post back if i find something. There are many aspects to this situation like hardware speed & memory requirements not to mention your own personal preferences so let me know what you think in that regard it might help make the decision less of an ordeal...

Yes, that is version SimplyMEPIS 6.5 DVD and would be a very good choice and yes you will be able to install "kworldcolck" by using that DVD. I also have and use that DVD and 6.5 is not only my main OS, it is the best Linux OS you can find todate.
