Can't install printer driver for HP 1020, printer doesn't work

HP printers require a special driver for ZjStream protocol, foo2zjs. The printer is not on the list of drivers from the KDE installer after an install of MEPIS 6.9.89 beta 5. I tried to install the driver from the foo2zjs website following the directions exactly. The make and make install seemed to work fine but the driver is still not listed in the HP list from the KDE printer installer. Anyone have any experience with these types or printers and can give me some advice as to how to get it working?
