That's a shame, because this relatively obscure Debian-based desktop distribution, is an outstanding desktop operating system. With SimplyMEPIS 8 at beta 5 and closing in on release, I tested the distribution and found it to be a keeper."

Updated kernel for MEPIS 8.0

Kernel 2.6.27.7 has been packaged for MEPIS 8.0. This release of the kernel contains all of the recent kernel.org fixes and security patches.

Fix for Mounting NTFS Partitions

Traditionally it was easy to mount a NTFS partition in MEPIS. Due to changes in ntfs-3g and other packages, in SimplyMEPIS 8 it has been necessary to mount the partition manually. Until now.
