I'm Excited!!

Today I really started working on configuring MEPIS. Until now, I just kind of skimmed the edges of Linux as I have searched for an OS for my NFP org.

I am telling everyone that MEPIS is the best!! I am strictly a user and know nothing about development (though I would love to learn!). Today I added icons to the menu, downloaded and installed individual apps from the net (outside of KPackage) and configured K3B and burned an ISO image. I really believe that if a beginner exercises a little patience, you can really reap the benefits of this distro. Even SUSE doesn't have 3D support built in. I did not have to manually configure anything on my system that is fairly new with some high end hardware. I don't know anything about networking but I can say that MEPIS gives you more than you need for a home desktop. I am seriously working on weening myself from WinXP.

If you are new to MEPIS, I will tell you right now that you will not find a more supportive group of people than the one's that haunt this forum.

I am really excited to see what SimplyMepis has to offer!! Warren and his supporters are doing a geat job!!

BTW - Has a release date been set for SimplyMepis?
