Mounting Drives

There's another trick for mounting drives automatically in Mepis.

First, mount any drives you want using KDiskfree (Mount Partitions icon on desktop).

Next, right click on the desktop and choose: Create New > Device > Hard Disk Device.

In properties on General Tab, name your device (i call my NTFS drive C_WinXP for example).

Now go to the Device Tab and click the list box arrow. You will see a list of all mounted devices. Select the one that corresponds to your NTFS drive (You can check which it is by going back to KDiskfree if you forgot).

You will then have a hard drive icon on your desktop. Next time you reboot, try clicking that icon. You should find it mounts and opens for you.

If you don't want a heap of hard drive icons all over your desktop, you can create them in a folder, and change the folder icon to the hard drive icon from devices.

You can also make the folder on the file tree in konqueror.

Anyway, it saves me some hassles - might do the same for you, and there is no editing of files to do, and you don't have to mount them individually with KDiskfree.

Cheers,

RossD.
