floppy ownership

OK here's a weird one for the pros on this board. HOWINHECK do I get the change ownership to work for my floppy? When I login as the user the system won't let me write to my floppy. When I check the properties it tells me that the floppy is owned by root. I have tried, in SU mode, to change the permissions but it doesn't work. As soon as I logout of SU mode and back in as a user it shows the floppy as owned by root. I'm stumped.

You can't just "chmod" it... The permissions are given while mounting the device. Take a look at the following file: /etc/fstab and post it here. Then we can go on to the next step .
