MS debuggers and such to LINUX debuggers and such ??

I am kinda curious as to what exactly(or close) would replace these windoze tools?
1:softice/2:W32dasm/and 3:hiew
I used to play with these, and i can't anymore=> no windoze. But i am willing to learn :)& I don't want duel boot to win 98.
If anyone can give me some help here would be appreciated.

I've never used windows debuggers and can't offer any help, unless you tell me for what you are looking .
So, what do these tools do?

softice i use for grabbing break-points ect:/
w32- dis-assembles a program/
hiew (hackers view) i use to grab addresses & rewrite assembly./
all in all i like to look at the inside of programs,
to study protection schemes, and such. It's educational/
is this enough

me that KDE comes with Hexeditor and he uses this to edit saved games and look inside programs.
A search through my package manager for decompile netted programs for C; PalmVII PalmQuery Apps; Python; Java; png files; wml bytecode; midi files

kernel-patch-kdb
does kernel debugging.

I stole his power cable for punishment, that's why he's so helpful.

nasm includes a disassembler (ndisasm); but there's often not as much need for such tools on Linux since the majority of software is open source, so you can fiddle with the original source code.

I tried a few things,& run into a brick wall.I don't think that it will be possible to reverse(a windoze app) fully.Never say die !!. I'll figure out a way. It's a goal now Smiling

.I will buy another machine,dump down 98, and carry on with my "hobbies"=> there is a crack in everything,yes everything, it's how the light does get in.

I got into a hassle with Maxis over one of their "not debugged properly" games.i paid alot for the complete set(sims), and that game is got more bugs than an ol dog.They offered me my money back @
a rip off % of what i paid. I paid 69 $ they offered me 15$,because they said it might have had someone inside it. i told them in not nice words."Hasn't happened yet but i will go inside yer crappy game, while i'm in there I'll crack it,and release it to the net.Maxis doesn't like me anymore-the feeling is mutual.That is why i am in such a hurry to get cracking in my Linux. every time i progress in that game, i feel good. I will make that game run properly seeings they can't. I hate the sims game..but wife unit loves it, Maxis won't do a thing.no choice..i will.
