Is this hardware Supported? (hardware in Compaq R3160US Presario Notebook):

Hi! I just got a new Presario 3160US notebook, and would like to know if this hardware is supported:

- Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 B/G wifi card
- SOUNDMAX (i810?) onboard audio
- Radeon 9200 Video Card

Also, is there any software available to control clock speed like I do in WinXP? I have a utility allowing me to change the Pentium-M's speed to, say, 250 MHz to maximize the battery life and would like to know if this can be done in Linux. Thank you. Smiling

Dunno

Well, I don't know, but if you have a LiveCd, then you can see what works without alteration.
the video card needs work to get 3D running, I'm aware of that
Intel do provide drivers for stuff under linux, so that could be a goer.
probably the sound chip is really intel too.

Battery life?
Well my battery lasts longer than users have reported running W-XP on my machine, which was a lot less than the manufacturer reckoned.
I can play a full DVD with the sound on maximum on the battery.

i810

"If you have a sound card or chip that uses the i810 driver, ALSA is not used by default in MEPIS because I've had trouble configuring it reliably. Instead OSS sound is used."
