console mepis
I'm trying to run Mepis (beta 0) on an ancient computer with Pentium 100 or 133 and 64 MB ram
And I have questions: is it possible to add some option at boot to run in console mode? (I can start in X and then press ctrl+alt+f1 and go to console, but X is still loaded and eats all the memory. I tried to do init 3 or kill it but it loads again
). If so, is it possible to run the hard disk installer in console mode ?
Oh, and one more issue - the system run with 2.4 kernel can't see my keyboard ("classic" type - not PS/2, the plug is bigger than PS/2 ... I don't know how this standard is called...). Well, it does see it during startup, but not in X. When I run 2.6, keyboard works. Unfortunately I haven't downloaded any newer beta so I don't know if they work. And my serial mouse also isn't detected (though I added the option 'smouse').

You're right, the '3' trick d
You're right, the '3' trick does work; still, I don't know how to run install from console, so I'll stay with X. I chose IceWM session and it works - slowly, but works
Anyway, now I've got another problem (http://www.mepis.org/node/view/2752) :|

I found that at start Mepis detects two mice - serial and ps/2 - though I only have the former. When I edit x config and turn off the ps/2 mouse and restart x, then the mouse works. Is there any way to tell him at boot that I haven't got any ps/2 mouse ?
I've downloaded the latest
I've downloaded the latest beta, and now the serial mouse works. Sorry for spamming
