Newbie - Downloading pictures (digital camera Canon PowerShot A75); Kamera; ghoto2
-Connected camera to USB port and turned it on in view mode.
-In KDE Menu I entered "Preferences->Peripherals->Digital Cameras ";
an icon came up showing "USB PTP Class Camera". Clicking on the test icon showed "
Camera test was successful"; the information icon correctly identified my camera.
-What do I do now to download pictures? Under the help button I find that the documentation for Kamera is not yet available (same goes for the web site).
-I also used gphoto2 on the command line "--auto-detect" and "--list-files"; the latter showed the files on the flash card in my camera. Where can I find the commands to download to the computer?
-I like Mepis! I had so many problems with XP that I decided to try Linux. I used Mandrake for 3 months and have used Mepis (which I prefer) for a couple of weeks. I have not found much need to delve into the nuts and bolts of Linux (till now) - everything seems to work pretty well from KDE
-The only other thing I would like is to get RealPlayer playing radio stations; but that is a separate problem. When that happens I will buy a lobster dinner.

Downloading digital camera pictures
Thanks for the info Shorty. I will price this out.
After posting this query I found that you can also download by signing in as root and in the console moving to the directory where you want the pictures placed and then typing "gphoto2 --get-all-files" .
Thanks again.
Thank you
My Canon Powershot A75 does not seem to work like you Fuji.
However, thanks for the info anyway.
