Upgrading SimplyMepis

No one using an official version of SimplyMEPIS should ever do a
'dist-upgrade', unless advised to do so by MEPIS. 'dist-upgrade' is for
changing from one version of the pool system to another, for example
from Debian 'stable' to Debian 'testing'. For regular upgrades, use
'upgrade'. You are free to use 'dist-upgrade' but if you do, the result
may no longer be SimplyMEPIS.
A metapackage will be in the pool soon. It's called simplymepis. It
will coordinate updates of the mepis components. If you have .01 the
package is already installed. If you have ".00" then it should be
installed manually, once it is available in pool.
Otherwise, regular users should wait patiently for packages to show up
as available for upgrade.

I wonder how?

With the quote 'If you have ".00" then it should be installed manually, once it is available in pool.'. I wonder how we would install it 'manually'? I'm running .00 and I would realy rather not reinstall to go to .01.
Any info would be great.
Thanks,
Bryan

She was talking about the metapackage being in the pool, Bryan. The metapackage is what you will need to install in order to upgrade from 00 to 01 or later versions of SimplyMepis. You won't have to reinstall SimplyMepis if you get this metapackage.
Where is the metapackage?

This may sound like a stupid question, but where is the metapackage? Is it something I just to an apt-get on?
Thanks,
Bryan
No simplymepis package was found

In KPackage I don't see a "simplymepis" package in either the installed or new package lists. In fact, KPackage could not find any package with "mepis" in its name. Where would I find this "meta package"?
The package is

The package is called simplymepis and it is in the repositories now and you can see it in kpackage if you click on the new or all tabs. I believe it is not working for people right now. I already have the package showing as installed on my system because I'm now running SimplyMepis 2004.02, which is what the package is supposed to be.
sorry for the OT

Hello Group:
I like the idea of being able to upgrade packages from one version of MEPIS, to a later one.?? It makes it easier for us novice users to start off with verion "0.1", and then if needed to upgrade to a later one.?? It sounds like upgradeing from service pack to service pack 3, or 4 in another OS
.
I am new to linux but is this not unique to MEPIS.?? Espescially since MEPIS is Debian.?? The stuff it seems may even become part of the Debian pool.
