HowTO - email soldiers in Iraq

Chipheads,
Friends have asked me to recomend a laptop to take to Iraq for the purpose of sending email back to family in the USA. I am at a loss to advise them as I do not know how soldiers in the middle east get on the web or send email.
Any info will be appreciated?
Vince

Well...

Having already been there and back I can tell you that a laptop won't help him/her for squat.?? They'll have access to email via DoD computers...a laptop will only keep them busy when they don't have anything to do...I got a toshiba satellite gaming laptop when I went and brought Diablo II with me...I also brought UTGOTY and networked my computer with another person's computer via USB hub....we had fun gaming.?? But he/she won't be able to hook up to any services...there aren't any available...no dialup, no cable, no DSL...nothing.?? So their best bet is to save the cash unless they already have a laptop and then buy one when they get back with all the tax free income and combat pay they get.

Regards

TKS
