IBM ThinkPad hw detection

Just playing with a pal's new thinkpad, which is not very entertaining with only the toys that come with XP...

...so I booted SimplyMEPIS 2004.03 - failsafe to avoid ACPI hassles - and all was well, until I went to setup the network - no eth0 :shock

lspci gave: 0000:00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5901 100Base-TX (rev 01)

So I tried a "modprobe bcm5700" and it worked

Everything else JustWorked(tm) - I think it's a R series - model 2648-LKG
