Canon S-300 printer won't print

My printer appears to be sucessfully configured. When I try to print a test page it says page sucessfully sent to printer, but it doesn't print [printer is fine on other o.s.] ?This is frustrating for me as I'm having a problem with my modem also [see separate post] and I really want to give this o s a chance as there are so many other things it does surprisingly well. I envy those users that don't have these two problems.

James I just figured it out . I was offered two drivers - I initially accepted the suggested first one . I went back and chose the second [ijs] and now it's working. Thanks for your offer - Regards.

OOPS! think I've figured out some of it. It's ok printing out a word document, mepis.org and distrowatch. It won't [?] print yahoo and that's where I was checking it out from - possibly some kind of block at yahoo - dunno, but I do know now it's not mepis or my printer - I'm rolling!

when you try to print something watch that the right printer shows in the popup print window , its a drop down selector tab some times it wont show the correct printer .

Hi James
I wonder if you can help me.
My Canon S300 won't print. When I switch it on the green light flashes once and the orange light seven times. As advised by the Canon helppage, I've turned the printer on, then off, but to no avail.
Can you suggest what might be wrong and how I can solve the problem?

Hello sandyj if you give me a little more info about your system maybe we can get it going . Things like what version of Mepis youre running is it installed to hard drive do you have other boxes on a local network with other printers . whitch printer are you having trouble with ect?
For some reason i missed Laurence' post & didnt reply. If youre running a s300 turn it off a while & unplug it allso . Has it been working with the installed driver and this just happened ? Fill me in a little as to circumstances & what youve done to get it going . First thing though is check ink levels & for foreign objects in paper feeder.

I also have a canon s300 that wont print. When I turn it on it flashes green, then yellow seven times and just keeps repeating this pattern.
I have the correct driver, it has been working well for a couple of years, this problem is new and I can see no obvious cause for it (ie paper jam, low ink, dirty print head). Can you advise

Hello Sanmoore, Have you checked out fix your own printer.com? Some times things on that site will work.http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/31149
This is an i550 page but it might apply you can try it or search that site for your specific printer, this page is the one i saw with a possible fix so i saved it.

hello patrick , im running a pair of canons an i550 and a S600 if youll give me a little more info i might be able to point you in the right direction . ?? what Mepis release are you running ? how did you try to setup the printer , print manager or control center ? try to elaborate a little about what youve tried .
