Simply Mepis & SATA?

Can I load Simply Mepis on a SATA machine??? I am about to build a new 3.6GHz prescott box and I am debating whether to purchase a SATA HD. I searched this forum but most of the posts on SATA seem to be about a year old.

I've heard that there are people that use SATA. And also the official version is that yes, SATA should work: http://faq.mepis.net/index.php?action=artikel&cat=324889&id=39&artlang=en

I also saw that some people had problems (it might have been some other issues, multiple disks, wrong configuration)

It's working for me

I've got two SATA drives and the Intel ICH5 Serial ATA controller, and SimplyMEPIS is running just ducky on my box. Smiling The drives show up at /dev/sda/ and /dev/sdb/

Fine for me..

I have the latest SimplyMEPIS working fine OOTB (2.6.7 kernel) on an onboard Promise 20376 controller- one of the first distros i've used that has managed this!

SATA

Scrumhalf-

On my Asus M2NVP-VM, I have 3 SATA drives working (dual boot with XP on a 10k Raptor). Two data drives Seagate 320 GIg also working fine.

No problems with the SATA drives so far.Transfer from one data drive to another about 300 Mb/s for many gig directories.

Good luck with your build.
