my question is where do i get the kernel source so i can build my drivers cuz the cd didn't include it...(or i can't find it) i downloaded the drivers for the modem and the card from linuxant(for debian based systems...i'm not stupid8)) and from the nvidia site

Hold the phone! HSF modem (Conexant)? Drop back and punt my friend. If mepis dosen't automatically work with this modem via the "slamr" driver then take it out. Is it really HCF (better with hardware data pump)? HSF have poor throughput no matter the "connect speed". IN any case Conexant does NOT help you (Linux). They send you to Linuxant which considers you a freeloader if you don't pay thier toll and buy a key to run their drivers for Conexant/Rockwell HSF/HCF modems.
YOU CAN BUY A PCI HCF MODEM FOR LESS THAN THAT!
I got one for $15 SHIPPED. Newer Agere/Lucent chipset recomended.
Of course if you need dial-up (backup?Sticks?). A EXTERNAL and SERIAL port with cable (rs232 not USB or PCI) v.90 or v.92 (don't sweat the v.92, you can't tell the difference) is the SIMPLEST solution. At about $50 it's your call.
I may have one with a built in ethernet router I can unborrow if you need it. $69 It's a "dual PC modem" (and two port network). NO DRIVERS NEEDED.
Oh and for a $5 one time setup you can try one of the free 10hr a month ($10mo max) ISP's. Google "freedomlist". Pay about $5 mo if you use more than 10hrs.
Oh yeah, this "dual PC Modem router" runs guess what? Linux internally.
You can make more money but you can NEVER get back time. Linux ease of use benefits everyone, novice and guru alike.
