Nvidia installation Kernel 2.6.9
Posts: 13
There have been reports of issues in installing the Nvidia Drivers after compiling the 2.6.9 kernel. Well I thought I would post my experenices and solutions to help those in the future avoid my problems.
First I ran into the issue after rebooting the kernel that Xserver would not start. :S
To correct the issue I installed the 6111 version of the nvidia driver.
That didnt work apparently it wont or rarely will from what I read.
The latest 6629 driver however does work
so download that somewhere OR since apt-cahce search nvidia does not appear to show it for the 2.6.9 kernel yet. (I am still somewhat new at using linux so if there is a way to get it, I just don't know it.)
??
There are plenty of other posts in these forums regarding the actual installation of the Nvidia dirvers and compiling of kernels so I will not bother to repeat them here BUT I will post a link for reference that was immensly helpful for me.

Good luck compiling. The performance is defintely worth the efforts to make it work
