How to copy from floppy to Windows C drive

I am very new to this, so sorry if this is a dumb question.
I am helping a friend whose system has become corrupt. I know which files are causing it, and put them on a floppy from my machine to restore them. I log onto MEPIS as 'root', but can't write to the C drive though. The drive is 'mounted' and has all 'read and write' permissions for 'root',so is the floppy. I have written to the floppy, and dragged one file to the MEPIS desktop to try things out. But when I try to copy the file to the destined C folder, I get an error saying that I can't write to the folder, and that I may not have all necessary permissions.
Can anyone help me out? I really hope so. Thanks in advance.

No NTFS support

If you are trying to copy to an NTFS partition (WinXP, Win2000), MEPIS is not able to write to those type partitions. Hence, you can read those partitioms but not modify or add files to them. Just boot his computer with a Windows emergency disk and copy the file using Windows.
