pro2005b2 installation bug on ATI based laptops

Hi I've been running simply2004-04 for a while and now trying out 2005b2.
My laptop is a sony vaio pcg grv616s with an ati radeon M9 card.
Both versions have a XF86Config-4 problem.
With simplyMepis, I fixed it by ditching its file and using the one I got from running Kanotix.
With pro2005 I investigated it a little more.

the problem is this:
my laptop lcd and my external lcd when docked have different resolutions: 120x1024 the former, 1600x1200 the latter.
with the default xf86config there was no way I could get the optimal resolution without logging in and changing settings.
I had to change it to
- in the monitor section
?????? remove all modeline lines
?????? set DPMS to true

- in the device section
?????? comment out all the # nvidia special options,

after this, if I boot docked, the external monitor is at optimal resolution and vicevesra if i boot undocked.

I think that the install routine should be more ATI-friendly.
