USB device mounting problems
Posts: 76
I'm running Simply Mepis and having some problems with USB devices.??
- I have an iomega USB ZIP drive which mounts and works OK until I eject the disk to use elsewhere.?? When I re-insert the disk into the drive, it doesn't seem to remount.?? When I try to view or mount it I get an error message about block error.?? Any ideas?
- When booting the computer with my?? SanDisk 256 memory key inserted, the bootup locks up and then won't continue when it comes to the part about loading and identifying USB devices.?? If I take the memory key out and reboot, all is fine.
- When booting the computer with the Dazzle 80 video input device attached, it seems to identify it (according to text messages during boot up) but gives several text lines saying it has identified the Dazzle 80 device.?? Why does it give this message several times??? Are there any ideas what software might work well with it under Linux?
Thanks much,
Daniel

also, make sure you UNMOUNT the zip disk before ejecting it. (Right click the icon in My Computer and choose unmount from the menu).
I have a hell of a time with my camera and mp3 player if I simply unplug them while they are still mounted.
See if that helps.

When my boot process gets stuck, I pull the stick out of the usb drive. What happens next is that the system picks back up again and continues to boot. Once this happens, I plug it back in and it mounts fine. I hope this helps...
