Dell 600m Modem & Wireless Connectivity

I've been lurking on the forums for a couple of weeks searching for answers but to no avail. I'm having problems properly configuring my internal modem and wifi. After the initial installation my wifi card seemed to be functioning properly but not able to connect to my home network and after connecting an ethernet connection it no longer functions at all.

My internal modem doesn't even get to the point of dialing or a ring tone.

The modem is a BCM v.92 56k, and the wifi is a Dell True Mobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card.

The distro works great otherwise and has replaced Windows as my first OS on my desktop. Now if I could only solve the laptop woes...

Any direction would be appreciated.
Jude

I have dell trumobile 1300

I have dell trumobile 1300 in my dell 600m. It is auto detected. However if wireless lan has encryption it needs to be configured with iwconfig(from wireless-tools deb file). Regarding modem I am yet to try. You can see what is /dev/modem. try with /dev/ttySL0.

Dell 600m Modem & Wireless Connectivity Update

Yes, my Dell Truemobile 1300 is auto-detected, however there isn't any documentation on how to setup the WPA key. There's a note on WEP though. I tried /dev/ttySLO for the modem, but still nothing. I feel like I'm missing a step somewhere.

Dell 600m Modem Connectivity - Solved

I haven't found a solution to this problem since posting back in March. I installed the latest version of Mepis 3.3.1-1 this morning. Soft modem automatically detected. Either because of the settings I had previously or right out of the box, no way for me to tell but it's working! I'll try wifi when I return home and post an update. Great job Warren!!!
